On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure to warmly welcome each one of you to the 78th State Annual Conference of the Tamilnadu & Pondicherry Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association , being held at the historic and prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore. It is indeed an honour to host this gathering of some of the brightest minds and most dedicated professionals in our field.

This year, we come together under a dual and deeply relevant theme — Clinical Radiology and Work–Life Balance.
In an era where radiology is rapidly expanding in scope, technology, and responsibility, clinical radiology stands as the core of what we do. Our role today extends far beyond image interpretation. We are integral partners in patient management, clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary care, and precision diagnostics. This conference will highlight those advancements—newer imaging techniques, evidence-based protocols, AI integration, interventional radiology, and the strengthening of our clinical footprint. I hope the sessions inspire us to return to our departments with renewed clarity and purpose.

Equally important is the second theme: work–life balance. As radiologists, we carry a heavy clinical load, frequent on-calls, academic demands, administrative responsibilities, and the constant pressure for accuracy and speed. While we care for countless patients, we often forget to care for ourselves. Burnout is now a global challenge in radiology, and it is time we talk about it openly.

Through this conference, we aim to reflect on how to build a sustainable radiology practice—one that values professional excellence and personal well-being. Sessions on mental health, managing departmental stress, time optimisation, teamwork, and all the sports and cultural competitions that are being organized will, I hope, empower each of us to find harmony between our careers and our lives beyond the reading room.

I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our faculty, sponsors, organisers, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create a scientific program of outstanding quality. A special thank you to Vellore Subchapter and CMC Vellore for hosting us in this remarkable institution known for its service, ethics, and excellence in healthcare.

I welcome all the delegates who have travelled from different parts of the state and country. Your presence enriches this conference and strengthens the collective spirit of the radiology fraternity.

I wish each of you a meaningful, enlightening, and enjoyable conference. May the next few days deepen our knowledge, strengthen our bonds, and remind us why we chose this beautiful profession.
